I first met Meredith when our sons were in kindergarten, when she was well into the process of navigating the world of food allergies. Meredith was always open and communicative about her efforts to keep her son safe, and reached out in advance of birthday parties and class events to discuss food options and precautions. I was drawn to her friendly nature, and admired how upbeat and positive she remained while discussing high stakes decisions. About a year later, my younger son suffered an anaphylactic reaction due to a previously unidentified tree nut allergy. Meredith was the first person I thought to reach out to you, and she coached me from afar as I sat next to my son's bed in the ER. Doctors and nurses were providing great care, but were also busy and moving fast, and Meredith explained to me the reason behind the treatments, and even suggested questions I could ask the providers during our hospital visit.
